This is a tutorial for a Late Victorian hairstyle. Enjoy!!
Let’s begin.
Step one ~ Part the front section of your hair beginning from behind your ears to the top of your head on both sides, then tie them out of the way for now.
Step two ~ From the rest of your hair grab a section near your temples all the way to the back of your head.
Step three ~ Flip that section over and pin a hair rat or a bump-it on top of the part. If you don’t have any hair rats/bump-its (like me oddly) you can use almost anything like crochet hair bands from the early 2000’s. Who’s to see 😉
Step four ~ Flip your hair back again and smooth the front of it. Turn it into a little pony tail and tighten it.
Step five ~ With the two front sections twist them a little and pin them to the back, under your little pony tail.
Step six ~ Now your going to divide the hair from the little pony tail into four equal sections. Take a small section of your hair from the top of your little pony tail, roll it in the direction of your face and pin it on the back of your puff.
Step seven ~ Take another section from the side of your little pony tail and roll it in the direction towards the side of your face, then pin it. Do the same with the next section on the other side.
Step eight ~ With the last section roll it upwards then pin it on top of the first roll you had made before.
Step nine ~ Part a section from behind your ears all the way to the back of your head, then tie it in a pony tail.
Step ten ~ Now divide the pony tail into five sections. Take a small section of your hair from the top of your little pony tail and roll it upwards, then pin it on top of step eight’s roll.
Step eleven ~ Take another section from the side of your little pony tail and roll it in the direction towards the side of your face, then pin it. Do the same with the next section on the other side.
Step twelve ~ Now we have two sections left, with the highest section (as shown in the picture) roll it upwards, then pin it on top of step ten’s roll.
Step thirteen ~ With the last section roll it underneath itself then pin it.
Step fourteen ~ (Slightly boggling to explain) ~ Starting from the bottom of the sides of your nape, section up, then come together, tie the top sectioned hair in a pony tail. The desired effect is that you’re going to section a segment of hair from your nape leaving hair at the top and to the sides.
Step fifteen ~ Divide the pony tail into three sections, with the middle section roll that upwards, then pin it onto step thirteen’s roll.
Step sixteen ~ Take another section from the side of your little pony tail and roll it in the direction towards the side of your face, then pin it. Do the same with the next section on the other side.
Step seventeen ~ Grab a fairly small section from the remaining hair (from nape) then do a half curl. You make a half curl by wrapping the section of hair once around your finger, then pin the loop (that’s wrapped around your finger) to the middle roll that was from step fifteen, remove your finger, then curl the end of the half curl with a curling wand.
Step eighteen ~ Now all you have to do is curl your remaining hair. I curled my hair around one prong of a two prong curling wand because I wanted tight curls.
Hooray! You’re done! You now have a very elegant Victorian do 😉
Phew! I was down to my last hair pin :]

Very pretty, thank you!
I love your website Thank you for making it. I have a request for a line of midevil hair styles if you’d be willing to make tutorials. There is a lot of midevil hair styles which I’ve been trying to find on the internet but cannot seem too. They are all worn in the movie “Ever After” with Angelica Huston and Drew Barrymore. I request would you make tutorials for them? I can even send you pictures if all the hairstyles if you wiish.
Sincerely, Emily
Hi Emily!! Thank you for your comment!! I love that movie and I’ve always loved the hairstyles, my hair though has never been very cooperative when I’ve attempted medieval hairstyles in the past. At the moment I have a short 1920’s bob hair cut (I’m into art deco at the moment, lol). But if I grow my hair out again in the future and have the blogging fever, I will definitely give it a try! Thanks so much again!! Samantha 🙂
Exactly how many do you think that you ended up using.
I meant how many pins do you think that you ended up using?
Hi Brittney! Be ready to use a lot of pins! approx 15 to 20:)
This looks ideal for the Gilbert & Sullivan show I’m in next month! Thanks for the great tutorial; I can’t wait to give it a try.
What a beautifui hair-do!!. To bad it would be too time consuming for everyday!
